Abro is an orientation prefix that describes an individual with a fluid orientation.[1][2] It is also an umbrella term for orientations that are changing or fluid. As an example, an abrosexual individual may change between any sexualities including changing between multisexual, homosexual, allosexual, asexual, etc. The prefix of abro may derive from the Greek word ἁβρός, meaning graceful, delicate, or pretty.[3] This may be referencing the graceful "movement" of one's orientation.[4]
The gender(s) one is attracted to typically change, but the intensity of the attraction or the way one feels their attraction may change as well. For some, the changes may be erratic, and for others, they may be regular.[4] Some abrosexual individuals may be fluid between all or a large number of sexualities, while others may only be fluid between a few. Because of their inconsistent attraction, some abrosexual individuals may not feel compelled to seek out a relationship or may prefer a wavership.[4]
While it is possible, and even common, for an individual’s sexual identity to shift or change in some way throughout their life, an abrosexual individual’s orientation may change more frequently, such as over hours, days, months, or years. The orientation changes may also be more drastic, such as transitioning from straight to gay or transitioning from pansexual to asexual.[4]
Abrosexual is not the same as a changing preference. An abrosexual individual could be omnisexual and feel attraction to all genders, however, they could later become minsexual, at which point they feel no attraction to feminine individuals whatsoever. Although they felt attraction to feminine individuals previously they can no longer feel attraction to feminine individuals in any way, shape, or form - unless their attraction changes to encompass feminine individuals again.
Abrosexuality can sometimes be considered part of the asexual spectrum as abrosexual individuals can sometimes experience asexuality.
History
Who coined the term and when is unknown. It was coined by an anonymous Tumblr user.[5] Abrosexual was added to Dictionary.com in February, 2020.[6]

Flags and Symbols
The abrosexual flag was created by Mod Chad of pride-flags-for-us after another anonymous individual requested it. The anonymous user requested a five-color flag that fades from #46D294 to white to #EE1766. It is unknown why this individual chose those colors specifically. The flag has existed since at least June, 2013.[5][1][14]
An alternate abrosexual flag was created by Cryptocrew at Hayden000s request on February 16, 2021, and was first published on a post one day later. The shades of pink waves represent fluid and changing attraction while the two delta symbols represent change in mathematics.[15][16]
Another alternate abrosexual flag was created by an unknown user, and published by Pride-Flags, the white band having been replaced with a light purple to represent sexual attraction.[17]
An alternate abroromantic flag was created by an unknown user, and published by Pride-Flags, a heart outlining the original flag to represent romantic attraction.[18]
