Vallis (orientation)
Vallis (orientation) is an orientation prefix where one may experience attraction towards strangers, loses that attraction when a personal bond forms, then may gain that attraction back when the bond grows stronger.
Vallis may be described as a combination of fray- and demi-, where fray leads into demi.
Etymology
"Vallis" means "valley, vale" in Latin.[1] This represents the pattern of losing and regaining attraction as a personal bond develops.
History
Vallisromantic and vallissexual were coined on August 18, 2022 by Reddit user AnonymousHermitCrab.[2]
The Vallissexual flag was created on April 30, 2023 by Tumblr user xaneitylost, based on the vallisromantic flag.[3] An alternate flag was made on September 6, 2023 by Reddit user SxtanChild (original post seems to be lost), two more alternate flags based on SxtanChild’s flag were created by deactivated Reddit user acountryball on September 7, 2023.[4]
