InterNon, also known as Intersex Nonbinary is a gender identity under both the intersex and nonbinary umbrella terms. InterNon describes individuals who are both intersex and nonbinary, and/or feel that their nonbinary identity has been influence by being intersex.
History
The term InterNon was coined by DeviantArt user softglitch on June 15, 2022. In the orginal post where they coined the term, they stated,
"I feel my intersexness has influenced my feelings toward gender in a big way and greatly influences my non-binaryness. I wanted a flag to represent that. I wanted a flag to represent me. The WHOLE me."[1]
An intersex and nonbinary user on Tumblr, doomface, created an alternative InterNon flag on March 8th, 2023.[2] After a Tumblr poll tournament (internonswagtournament) started using this version of the flag, it became the most recognizable one and popular one in the InterNon community.[3]
