Monstergender
Monstergender is a xenogender identity with multiple definitions and coinings.
The umbrella definition is for individuals that identify as or with various monsters. The prefix 'monster' has several meanings including:
- An animal of strange or terrifying shape.
- An animal or plant of abnormal form or structure.
- A threatening force.
- Of unnatural or extreme ugliness, deformity, wickedness, or cruelty.[1]
Monstergender was first coined by Tumblr user littledeludeddupes on the 14th of Oct, 2014.[2] Monstergender was described as an individual whose gender is weak, or has no sense of gender due to feelings of inhumanity replacing the missing sense of gender identity. It was created with mainly neuroatypicals in mind.
On the 8th of Feb, 2017, an unknown Tumblr user described monstergender as a gender that is big, scary, and unknowable to other people, but is strong and empowering to the individual who identifies as said gender.[3]
