Quoi- is an orientation about being unsure of what an attraction is, being unsure if one experiences the attraction, and more. It can refer to someone who feels confusion about their feelings towards the attraction, or can describe if they are able to relate and understand the experiences.[1]

Quoi comes from the French and means ‘What’[2] Quoi is pronounced like ‘Kwa’[3]

History

The term quoisexual originated in approximately 2014, after Tumblr user epochryphal (or Cor) coined quoiromantic, itself an alternative to the term wtfromantic.[4][5]

A timeline of the term was put together by Theacetheist[6]

In 2010, Kat wrote about eirs romantic orientation and eirs rejection of it.[7] User: Sciatrix in 2011 wrote about her experiences where she mentions calling herself ‘WTFromantic’ [8]

The flag for Quoisexual was created by Cor.[9]

The Tumblr Blog ‘Pride-Color-Schemes’ made flags for Quoi- identities on July 6th 2016[10]

Other alternate flags for Quoi identities have been proposed and designed over the years.[11][12]
