Orchid is an orientation prefix describing individuals that experience attraction without a desire for a relationship, the prefix orchid- derived from the orchid flower, which can stand for love, sex, or fertility.[1][2][3]

It can also be described as "allo through an aspec lense" or interaction-repulsed/interaction-averse allo.[4]

History

The term orchidsexual was coined on FANDOM by user Ringotheman on April 6th, 2021.[2] Orchidromantic was coined as its romantic counterpart by Ringotheman, also through FANDOM, on April 22nd, 2021.[5] The concept was originally expanded into a spectrum with additional sublabels by plurgai, however due to controversy over plurgai, those terms were recoined with tweaked definitions and new flags by recoinbrewery on Nov. 7th, 2021.[1][4][6]
