Genderqueer is an umbrella term describing individuals who feel that they have a queer or non-normative experience with gender, either through their gender identity, their gender presentation, or other experiences of gender.

History

The first known usage of ‘genderqueer’ was in 1995 by Riki Anne Wilchins in the Spring 1995 newsletter of Transexual Menace.[4]Further citation needed

Flags and Symbols

The first proposed flag of genderqueer was designed by Marilyn Roxie in June 2010[5], Marilyn proceeded to make and post another version in September 2010.[5][6]
