Main Umbrella: Tutelary Attraction and Orientation

Tutelary Attraction, also known as protective attraction or dominant attraction is a form of tertiary attraction that involves an individual wanting to take care, protect and support a certain individual.

History

Tutelary Attraction as a concept was created by AVEN espanol user Arya on December 23rd 2014, under the name Atracción de protección (Protective Attraction).[1] The translation was posted by Tumblr user Neutrois-Maverique on March 16, 2018 in a now deleted post.

The term Dominant Attraction was coined by Deviantart user SilenceTheFox on April 11th 2018.[2]

The coining of the term Tutelary is unknown, it was posted by Tumblr blog Beyond MOGAI Pride Flags on August 16th 2018.[3]

Flags

SilenceTheFox also made a flag for Dominant Attraction on the same date they coined the term.[2][4]

A flag appeared on the post by Beyond MOGAI Pride Flags, it is unknown if they made it.[3]

An alternate flag for Tutelary Attraction with and without a symbol, was created by Tumblr user gennerflooid on October 12th 2022.[5]
