The term Gyne- has a few definitions and can refer to:
- One having exclusive attraction to women (Synonymous with Womasexual), this definition does not address the individual who is attracted to womenâs gender identity.
- One has an attraction to those have a feminine presentation, regardless of the individual in questionâs gender identity. (Synonymous with Femsexual)
- One having attraction to those with âfemale anatomyâ regardless of the individualâs gender identity. (Note: This specific definition has been regarded by some to be transphobic/genitalist as it reduces individuals down to their genitals. And having attraction to oneâs genitals is considered a sexual preference rather than an orientation.)
History
The term's coinage is relatively unknown but has existed since at least April 2016.[1][2] It likely has existed prior to that due to mentions of its controversial status.
Controversy
The term has had controversy over some of its definition, in particular potentially being transphobic or genitalist due to the potentially having a prefer to oneâs genitals rather than actual gender identity. It has controversy over the fact it could mean that you are reducing trans individuals for example, to their genitalia.
