Flushed or matespritic attraction is an attraction very similar to the current definition of romantic attraction. Characterized by feelings of romantic love, and generally (but not necessarily) sexual attraction. Some gestures of flushed affection may include hugs, hand holding and kisses.
History
The quadrant system was first introduced in famous webcomic Homestuck by Andrew Hussie on August 10 2010. In the comic, the quadrant system refers to the types of romance experienced by trolls. While humans only have one form of romance, trolls experience four; matespiritship (the flushed quadrant), moirallegience (the pale quadrant), kismesissitude (the pitch quadrant), and auspisticism (the ashen quadrant).
Although people have used quadrant romance to describe relationships since Homestuck introduced it, mx-princey on Tumblr formalized the terminology on 25 May 2020 for ease of use. [1]

The flushed attraction flag, as well as the flags for gay, lesbian, bi, pan, straight, aro, and polyamorous flushed orientations were created alongside the term by mx-princey on May 25, 2020. [1] [2] On March 10, 2021, Tumblr user mogai-trender-sideblog created demi- flags for the four quadrant system attractions. [3] On November 3, 2022, Tumblr user lolliepops-rox created flags for alloace-, alloaro-, aceflux-, and arofluxmatespritic orientations. [4] Sometime in 2022, Tumblr user neopronouns created a flag for the aegomatespritic orientation. [5]
